Google brings ads into AI Mode in India, Kenya and eight more markets

By Chetan Kumar · 7 Nov 2026 · AI and search

Google is now showing ads inside AI Mode in 10 new markets, and says AI Mode earns less per search than classic results. Here is what it means for your marketing.

What happened

On 28 October 2026, alongside Alphabet's third quarter results, Google said ads in AI Mode are expanding to 10 new markets: Australia, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Kenya, Nigeria and Canada. Brazil, Mexico and the UK are planned before the end of the year. In the US, ads can now also appear during follow up questions in a conversation.

Google also gave a hint about the money side. Search revenue still grew 12 percent in the quarter, but growth has slowed from 19 percent in the first quarter, and Google named lower monetization in AI Mode as one of the reasons. People are asking AI Mode questions that are about three times longer than normal searches.

Why it matters

Buyers are moving from short keywords to long, detailed questions, and the ads and answers they see are changing with them. If your business relies on Google for enquiries, both your paid and your organic visibility are shifting at the same time, in markets that include India and Africa for the first time.

What to do

  • Check whether your Google Ads campaigns are eligible to appear in AI Mode in your market.
  • Write service pages that answer full questions a buyer would ask, not just a two word keyword.
  • Track enquiries by source each month, so you can see if AI Mode is changing where leads come from.
